Recipe: Teriyaki Pork and Asparagus

Sometimes Kebabs are worth it, sometimes they aren't.  In this case, it is easier to cook everything on the grill without the skewer.

You will need:

  • 2/3 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup of honey
  • 2 tbsp of ginger
  • 2 tbsp of garlic
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup of scallions
  • Salt
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 1/2 lbs of Asparagus
  • 1 lb of pasture raised pork

To Make:

  1. Mix soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, scallions and a pinch of salt.
  2. Place pork in a ziploc bag or container with half the mixture and allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Cut off the white ends of asparagus.  Lightly coat asparagus with "teriyaki" mixture.
  4. Grill both asparagus and pork on medium high heat.  Flip pork at 5 to 6 minutes.  Turn asparagus occasionally to keep from burning.
  5. Remove asparagus when slightly charred and tender.
  6. Remove pork when cooked through (170 degrees if using a meat thermometer)
  7. Serve with an Asian Style Salad like the one at Our Best Bites (without the sugar of course)
