Recipe: Basic Greens and Veggie Salad

Salads are simple. Lettuce, veggies and dressing and you've got yourself a pretty basic side dish. Making a meal out of it doesn't require much extra work either. Use our Basic Greens and Veggies Salad as your starting point and add on some all natural extras to make your meal. 

You will need:

  • 1 cup of your favorite type of lettuce, washed. We like to use Romaine or Baby Spinach.
  • 2 or 3 Basic Add-ons (use more if you like), such as: Tomatoes, Carrots, Celery, Cucumber, Bell Peppers (any color), or broccoli
  • 1-2 tablespoons of all natural dressing. Good dressings won't need processed ingredients.
  • Extras include: mushrooms, beans, corn, apples, oranges, boiled eggs, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, feta cheese, cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, mozzarella, tuna, chicken, salmon, steak, turkey, pork (can add any meat you like – usually works best when meat is cold, e.g. leftovers)

To make it:

  1. Wash all of your ingredients.
  2. Break up lettuce if necessary and cut any veggies or extras into bite sized pieces.
  3. Mix all of your ingredients together, waiting until just before you eat to add the salad dressing
